Children's Director: Bethany Porter
At Cleveland's First Baptist, we’re all about creating a super fun, safe zone where kids from tiny tots to sixth-graders can dive into the awesomeness of Jesus and build a solid friendship with Him! Our amazing volunteers go through the ultimate background check, join annual training sessions, and keep their skills sharp like a well-honed pencil! We encourage kiddos to unleash their creativity during worship and shout out in prayer and discussions like rockstars! Our mission? To arm each child with the scoop on Christ's Love, tackle the big questions about sin, celebrate the beauty of Salvation, and uncover the treasure of Biblical Truths!
Join us on Sunday's @ 9:30 for a light breakfast, followed by Sunday School @ 9:45 and Children's Church @ 11.
Join us on Wednesdays in the Kids Building, 7-8:30 for worship, a Bible lesson, and an activity.
Our church uses the NLT Bible for lessons and we encourage kids to bring theirs and follow along—we know that everyone learns in their own unique way, and that other formats of the Bible may be a better fit. It is more important to us that kids understand their Bible than which one they use. If you’re unsure about the best fit for your little one, swing by and chat with Mrs. Bethany! We’ve got a variety of Bibles for you and your kiddo to explore together before you make that important purchase. Finding a Bible that resonates with your child's understanding is key!
Bible Drills
Our Wednesday night Bible Drills program helps children build confidence in knowing and using their Bible. We offer two age groups using the Bible Drills curriculum: 1st–3rd Grade and 4th–6th Grade. The August 2026–July 2027 program year will follow the Red Cycle.
Throughout the year, children will learn the Books of the Bible and how to quickly locate them, the major divisions of Scripture and the books within each division (Law, History, Poetry, and more), key Bible verses through memorization, and where to find important passages such as a Prayer for Forgiveness and the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
In early Spring 2027, CFBC will host a Church Bible Drill, with qualifying participants advancing to the Associational Bible Drill Competition.

What is Baptism?
Kids interested in Baptism and ready to learn the what and the why, are encouraged to attend a quarterly Baptism class for kids. In this class kids will strengthen their understanding of what Salvation means and how it is a gift for them. Parents are encouraged to stay during this class to help reinforce at home. The class is around one hour and is not a requirement for baptism. Parents also have the option of scheduling their child for a Baptism focused small-group study that ranges from 8-12 weeks.
